N.J. college tells women to practice making ‘anti-rape face’ to stave off sexual assault

I guess nobody told the administrators at Ramapo College, in Ramapo, N.J., that if you contort your features into a silly face, it will stay that way. According to Campus Reform:

A presentation to freshman students … encouraged them to be cautious with how they dress, how much they drink, and how they use their body language in order to avoid potential sexual assaults. The presentation, led by the college’s coordinator of substance abuse and sexual assault prevention, Cory Rosenkranz, also encouraged students to “practice how they articulate their face in a social setting by practicing in a mirror.” [Emphasis added]

Brandon Molina, a student who works as a peer facilitator at the college, said that the presentation started off well enough, outlining preventative measures, then turned “peculiar.”

The event, titled “Haven—Understanding Sexual Assault,” is part of the liberal kneejerk reaction to the heavily debunked myth that 1 in 5 women have been raped on college campuses. LU’s Hans Bader has written extensively on the ridiculous length to which college administrations have gone to deal with the “rape culture” panic sweeping the nation’s campuses, but the anti-rape face is in a class by itself. The College Reform piece notes that the ludicrous term anti-rape face has spawned its own derisive hashtag, #MyAntiRapeFace, which has in turn trended on Twitter:

But rather than ridicule this notion, I think we should explore the possibility of other “anti” faces. Consider, for example, the anti-terrorist face, guaranteed to send ISIS scurrying for the woodwork:
