Picture of the Day: Vote acqui

How much does your vote count? The answer depends in part on where you live. Where I live, deep-blue New York City, my vote hardly counts at all in most elections. In midterms, when voter turnout tends to be diminished, it counts more.

This is likely to be especially true in this year’s midterm. In addition to the expected minority no-shows at the poll, dispirited Democrats in general are expected to stay home, while energized Republicans and conservatives are anticipated to show up in legion.

Maybe it was with an eye toward misleading voters that someone from my local polling place set up this sign. If you are not averse to the smell of garbage you can indeed climb into this dumpster and vote, though it’s anybody’s guess whether your vote will be tallied.
