Liberal Chicago priest and Obama pal attends anti-gun rally — with 3 armed bodyguards

An uber-liberal Chicago-area Roman Catholic priest appeared Saturday at a Brady Campaign anti-gun rally to protest a gun shop in nearby Riverdale, Ill. He was accompanied by three armed bodyguards. Huh?

Fr. Michael Pfleger — who as Michelle Malkin reminds us was an “Obama supporter/spiritual advisor/Jeremiah Wright chum [and] Farrakhan cheerleader” — can now add “hypocrite” to his list of accomplishments (which also include racial demagogue, according to Malkin. For those whose memories require further jogging, a 2008 video appears at the end of this post.)

The claim that Pfleger’s bodyguards were armed was made by several attendees at a counter-rally in support of Chuck’s Guns, according to The Truth About Guns.

How did we know? There were one hundred gun owners present, many – if not most there – had concealed carry licenses and/or were firearms trainers.

We know “printing” (an outline of a gun seen through clothing when a concealed carrier moves about in daily life) when we see it.  Photographs show examples of printing among Pfleger’s bodyguards.”

The hypocrisy of anti-gun fanatics is nothing new. One example is U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who once said she’d ban all firearms if she could.

“If I could’ve gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them — Mr. and Mrs. America turn ’em all in — I would have done it,” she said during a 1995 “60 Minutes” interview, according to Breitbart News.

However, knowing full well that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, she possessed a concealed carry permit at a time when her life was being threatened, according to another Breitbart report.

Other examples include former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, actor Jim Carrey, and Moms Demand Action leader Shannon Watts. Although they all support draconian gun laws, they’ve also enjoyed the protection of armed bodyguards.

As for Fr. Pfleger, his position on gun control, as well as Chuck’s Gun Shup, the site of Saturday’s rally, has led to some over-the-top statements, going back at least 7 years. According to a May 30, 2007 post in CapitolFax.com:

During a protest against Chuck’s Gun Shop, Father Pfleger twice threatened to “snuff out” the shop’s owner and threatened the same fate for legislators who oppose his position on gun control.

“We’re gonna find you and snuff you out,” Fleger said about the gun shop owner, likening the man to a “rat.” He later repeated his threat to “snuff out” the owner.
Fleger also had this to say to state legislators who vote against gun control measures.

“We’re gonna snuff out legislators who are voting [garbled] against our gun laws and we’re coming for you because we are not going to sit idly.”

I can’t say that I can recall my parish priests calling to “snuff out” those to whom they may have disagreed, but maybe I just never paid that much attention before.
