Soccer, I am told, is a sport. In most of the world, I am told moreover, it is called football. As you can gather, I am not a soccer enthusiast.
Having established that fact, I would like to pass along tidings of joy from the government, which is extending the lunch hour of employees today so that they can root for Team USA.
Not so fast. That’s employees of the government of the State of New York. Read the official edict and weep:

It’s nice of Cuomo to give state employees that time off, though maybe he should checked with his employer — the taxpayer — before going ahead with this act of largess.
