Slow news day at the WaPo

Slow news day at the WaPo

These are the times that journalists thrive on. There is so much going on both internationally and here at home that there’s scarcely enough time in the day to give the news its due.

Take yesterday as a case in point. We had topping the list of topics the spreading cancer that is the ISIS and its inexorable move toward Baghdad. On the homefront we had the ongoing IRS investigation, the final preening of primary candidates, and the efforts of Hillary Clinton to clarify her recent comments on her personal finances.

We also had this, reproduced in its entirety by the Washington Post:

President Obama went to Chipotle on Monday, continuing his luncheon tour of D.C. eateries. He walked there from a nearby hotel, having stopped by the White House’s Summit on Working Families. And he wore sunglasses. Oh how he wore sunglasses.

Shades are, of course, Vice President Joe Biden’s thing. Biden has made his Ray-Bans something of a trademark; he joined Instagram with a picture of the Ray-Bans at rest.

President Obama, as he showed Monday, isn’t going to let Biden have the “national politician who wears sunglasses” lane all to himself, however.  Of course, Obama has some competition in his own family;  First Lady Michelle Obama not only wore sunglasses but wore them inside. Boom.

Note to the WaPO editorial staff. Parade Magazine called and wants its story back.
