I have to keep reminding myself that liberals are the deep thinkers in the room. Once again, they have been taken in by a satire involving their favorite target, 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, and once again they have played the “stupid” card — unwittingly on themselves. This time, the subject is Malaysia Flight 370.
Last week, The Daily Currant, which advertises itself as “the Global Satirical Newspaper of Record,” ran an item titled “Palin Wonders If Flight 370 ‘Flew Directly to Heaven.’” Here’s an excerpt:
During an appearance on Fox News last night, Sean Hannity asked the former vice-presidential candidate for her thoughts about the aircraft, which has been missing for nearly two weeks.
The former Alaska governor stunned viewers with an unorthodox new theory that international investigators have so far ignored.
“I see all these smarty pants people on CNN saying that it was terrorism or a fire in the cockpit,” she explained to a bewildered Hannity, “but I don’t hear anyone talking about the God possibility. I mean what if they accidentally flew too high and got stuck in heaven?
“I’m no expert on international aviation. But I do know that God is up there looking down on us. And everyone knows that once you go to heaven you can’t come back. This would explain why we haven’t found any wreckage in the ocean and why no one saw the plane land….”
The writers upped the ante by additionally putting the following phony quote in the former governor’s mouth: “Of course the looney [sic] liberal media can only imagine secular explanations for this mystery.” It’s one thing to rile those on the left by calling them loony, but when you highlight their hypocrisy by emphasizing their intolerance for any religion other than Islam, you’ve really opened a can of worms.
So did they bite? Is the Pope Catholic? Some of the choicer responses, compiled by Twitchy, follow. (Warning: Some profanity.)
Sarah Palin believes flight 370 flew directly to heaven… how is she a senator?

Liberals’ obsession with Palin — who (nota bene) was not elected Vice President — is made all the more amusing by the reality of the guy who was:
Somehow, the fact that a beating heart separate this living tribute to foot-in-mouth disease from the White House fazes them not at all.
