CNN mocked after discussing possibility Malaysia flight 370 may have been swallowed by black hole

CNN has been discussing the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight 370 almost non-stop, and reached what Twitchy called on Thursday “the absolute end of the credibility universe” when the network actually discussed the possibility the airliner may have been swallowed by a black hole.

CNN host Don Lemon read a few tweets by people suggesting black holes and other conspiracy theories may be behind the airline’s disappearance before discussing it with his panel.

“That’s what people are saying.  I know it’s preposterous,” he said before asking Mary Schiavo, former inspector general for the Department of Transportation, if the possibility was preposterous.

“Well, a small black hole would suck in our entire universe, so we know it’s not that,” she said.  “The Bermuda Triangle is often weather and Lost is a TV show.”

Schiavo said she likes things “for which there’s data.”

“So for me, those aren’t there,” she added, while saying she “loves” the theories.

The segment sparked mockery on Twitter, Twitchy said.

“CNN posited the black hole theory only after carefully rejecting others involving the tesseract and wardrobe,” one person said.

“Next up on CNN,” another person added, with a picture captioned “Aliens.”

“I won’t believe CNN’s black hole theory until Bill Nye throws his weight behind it,” tweeted “Brady Cremeens.”

One person asked if CNN questioned the Romulans while another person said Don Lemon wants to know “where Lex Luthor was when the plane disappeared.”

“Next on #CNN how a black hole ruined #Obamacaare,” said “Jules.”

“Here’s another theory I’ll just throw out there: what about the plane entered a wormhole into another dimension?” asked Mediaite’s Josh Feldman.  “I don’t know if that’s how the science works, though.”

Video of the segment can be seen here.
