Starbucks for Dummies

Starbucks for Dummies

This appears to be a contagion. Yesterday Quick Takes noted that a “Burger King” had opened in Pittsburgh that was serving its burgers in brown paper bags and fries in Dixie cups. If that wasn’t enough to persuade devotees of the fast food chain that something was amiss, the unorthodox signage outside the restaurant was a tip-off to the fact this BK was a fake.

In contrast the signage and even the logo outside a Starbucks Coffee in a Los Angeles neighborhood are of a piece with the other retail outlets in the chain … except for the word dumb:

Starbucks

The Hollywood Reporter reports there’s no word on who’s behind the project, but who cares: The coffee and pastries are free:

Alongside a non-functioning cash register, CD’s like “Dumb Nora Jones Duets” [sic] and “Dumb Jazz Standards” are stocked.
