The Liar-in-Chief is exposed as his signature Obamacare implodes and 720,000 drop out of the workforce in one month.
Insurance policy cancellations and security lapses at HealthCare.gov (when potential victims of identity theft can get the website to “work”) have interrupted the body politic long enough. Time for Democrats to roll out their favorite pets to distract Americans from serial failures while branding Republicans as heartless bigots. The only questions are, will enough Republicans cave or will King Obama make more “law” via executive fiat?
Liberal Democrat-defined diversity and other such paternalistic fetishes trump Liberty and the wealth, happiness and less poverty it produces every time they are tried. The current iterations of our national non-football past time (apologies to those like yours truly who are even now counting the days to when pitchers and catchers report) obsessions with the plight of gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals, transgenders, and undocumented immigrants living in the shadows of a planet at risk from man-made global warming, or at least changes in the climate of one sort or another that should prompt Americans to raise the price of energy on the poor. It seems that in ObamaDems’ moral universe, food stamps and other welfare dependencies are options equal in their minds to personal and family independence via non-government labor at good wages.
What else can one conclude when liberal democrats propose ending with ENDA, the Orwellian-titled Employement Non-Discrimination Act of 2013, even more profit-making enterprises by forcing employers to hire or not fire obviously mentally disturbed, gender-questioning individuals who act out whisically-preferred sex roles, dress inappropriately and/or have functioning genitals removed? Consider that last week:
…the Senate began debate on S.815, which essentially invites lawsuits on private employers who refuse to accommodate the subjective and transitory behavior of various “gender identities” – among them transsexuals and transvestites. For the purpose of the bill, the term “gender identity” refers to “the gender-related identity, appearance, or mannerisms or other gender-related characteristics of an individual, with or without regard to the individual’s designated sex at birth.” [Democrats refer to ENDA] as the next Civil Rights Act…implicitly comparing African Americans to the aforementioned groups, [thus] creating a protected class for people who suffer from a mental illness and think they are the opposite gender.
Imagine you are a small business owner, and one day a cross-dressing individual shows up and agitates for a job, and regardless of your beliefs or business, you can’t say no to their obvious socially discordant appearance. Think of a scenario where a person shows up and demands he-she use the opposite gender bathroom at the office? Imagine a female employee complains to you that a male worker is harassing her in the bathroom (this is already happening in schools) because “they” chose to identify one way, but act another? Imagine you run a day-care center and are confronted with a worker of either gender who openly engages in bizarre sexual-identity behavior around the children? If you choose traditional scientific understanding over political correctness, you would be fined under this bill by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Even the limited religious exemptions in Section 6 of this bill are only afforded to religious organizations, not privately owned businesses.
But on Monday, Democrats [had already] picked off [seven]… Republican[s] who voted for cloture – Susan Collins, Dean Heller, Mark Kirk, Kelly Ayotte, Rob Portman, Orrin Hatch, and Pat Toomey. What did the members get in return for the vote on cloture? A phony religious liberty protection: Senate passage of ENDA seemed more and more likely Wednesday after the Senate unanimously accepted an amendment by Sens. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) protecting religious groups exempted under the legislation from government retaliation. That amendment likely secured the vote of several other Republicans pushing for that language, including Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
This is a classic one-sided…deal. They will vote for a bill mandating the hiring of cross-dressers to any position as long as the government doesn’t retaliate against religious groups. [And on Tuesday] the Senate [rejected] phony amendment. In exchange for his vote for cloture, Senator Toomey secured a vote to “expand” the religious protections. The underlying bill only exempts those groups whose “purpose and character are primarily religious.” Toomey’s amendment would [have] expand[ed] that to organizations that are partly religious in nature, such as a school that teaches religion for part of the day. But what was missing all week were any protections for private business owners – religious or otherwise. If you own a daycare center or any other business and object to the dissolute behavior of a cross-dresser, you are out of luck.
Hopefully Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) – who voted for a similar law when Democrats ran the House – and like-minded, timid-of-the-PC-police, Republicans will get their minds righted on the jobs recession when the bill arrives on Speaker John Boehner’s desk. Hopefully they will be able to withstand the below-type attacks on Big Business that seem to have already co-opted too many in the GOP:
If that doesn’t engender (pun intended) a North Pole-like chilling effect on job creation, consider that, before the president’s non-apology, apology for insurance policy cancellations (directly and indirectly made necessary by the Obama’s health care bill that then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi assured must be passed quickly so that we could find out what was in it later); our Chief Executive promised a renewed commitment, by executive orders if necessary, to fighting climate change:
President Obama has a chance to craft a second-term legacy on climate change even as the rest of his agenda runs aground in Congress. Gun control legislation is dead [and to] make matters worse, what was supposed to be his signature first-term achievement — ObamaCare — is suffering from a disastrous rollout.
But there’s one thing that’s going right for Obama: Executive action on climate change is moving full-speed ahead at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). “He may be able to do more through climate change [rules] because the EPA has the authority,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) told The Hill on Thursday. The most far-reaching piece of Obama’s climate plan is carbon emission standards for the nation’s fleet of existing power plants, by far the largest single source of industrial carbon emissions. The EPA is also writing standards for new plants.
Finally, in case there are any non-IRS/EPA or congressional staff jobs left in America after Flip Wilson’s Geraldine rules the non-coal heated workplace formerly known as The Home of the Braves and the land of the Free, the affirmative action for cheap labor aka immigration reform aka amnesty bill is working its way up the there-is-nothing-to-see-here economy-and-Obamacare-avoidance agenda. Thankfully Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has turned against a comprehensive approach and will inspire more Republicans to muster the courage to represent their legal constituents who need good paying jobs and a secure border.
