The sins of the father — or in this case mother. Opposing Views has the disturbing tale of a seven-year-old child stealing a mobile phone out of the handbag of an unsuspecting woman at a South African restaurant. The little girl’s mother, who is seated at the next table, not only looks on as the thief-in-training commits her crime. She seems to be coaching the child as she learns this useful trade.
The incident was captured by the restaurant’s surveillance camera. In the video, which appears below, the mother can be seen scoping out the mark’s purse, then gazing back at her young daughter and nodding affirmatively.
The young girl then gets up, stands behind the victim’s chair, reaches into the victim’s purse and pulls out a white phone. The child returns to the table and slips the phone inside her sweatshirt. The daughter, mother, and one other friend immediately leave the restaurant.
Neither of the two adults nor child have been identified. Not to worry. The child will almost certainly be IDed one of these days after her shoot-out with police following a heist goes terribly wrong.
