Democrat Rangel: Tea Party 'white crackers,' equates to killers of children

One of New York City’s most recognizable Congressmen, Democrat Charlie Rangel, has blasted away at the Tea Party, describing the followers of the grassroots fiscally conservative movement somewhat redundantly as “white crackers.” Breitbart.com reports that Rangel was more scathing in his condemnation of the group as the equal of bigots who murdered children half a century ago.

In an interview the same day with the The Daily Beast, the 43-year veteran on Congress launched an angry and at times rambling and difficult-to-follow-the-timeline rant against the Party of Tea:

White crackers: Did Charlie Rangel just call me a saltine?
White crackers: Did Charlie Rangel just call me a saltine?

It is the same group we faced in the South with those white crackers and the dogs and the police. They didn’t care about how they looked. It was just fierce indifference to human life that caused America to say enough is enough. I don’t to see it and I am not a part of it. What the hell! If you have to bomb little kids and send dogs out against human beings, give me a break.

The 83-year-old Rangel did lighten up on his Republican colleagues but only slightly, referring to them as “terrorists.” Commenting on the GOP efforts to stem the rising unpopularity of various administration initiatives, including ObamaCare, Rangel noted:

What is happening is sabotage. Terrorists couldn’t do a better job than the Republicans are doing.

Every white son of a gun from Europe has found a way to get here, and these barriers I think have a lot to do with color and the awkwardness or the uncomfortableness that a lot of whites feel about people of color.

Rangel rankled at the question of how the Democratic Party could historically oppose immigration, yet shift so quickly to the polar opposite, saying: “You are not going to go back to Abe Lincoln now and that bulls**t are you?”
