When you lose Bill Maher, you’ve lost the country.
Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters reports that during one of his utterly hilarious soliloquies on Friday, would-be comedian turned would-be political commentator Bill Maher took a dig at the president, telling his HBO audience that “he doesn’t even know what the IRS and the Justice Department are doing.”
The dig was embedded in a critique of the misguided individual or group who sent a ricin-laced letter to the White House:
In other white powder political news, someone again sent deadly, the deadly poison ricin to President Obama through the mail. These dumb asses. Do they really think Obama opens his own mail? He doesn’t even know what the IRS and the Justice Department are doing. He’s opening his own mail? I mean, I hate to keep, I hate to keep saying that Americans are stupid and lazy, but, I mean, is there any lamer assassination attempt than sending wannabe poison through the mail? What was plan B – hoping Chris Christie falls on him?
It is easy to envision Obama supporters disputing the claim by asserting that Maher has taken swipes at the president before, which is proof Maher was never really that into Obama. But if that’s true, Maher has a funny way of showing his disdain for the commander in chief. As Sheppard notes, Maher donated $1 million to Obamaàs re-election campaign.
