Former ‘American Idol’ Contestant Caleb Flynn Convicted Of Wife’s Murder

Former “American Idol” contestant and worship leader Caleb Flynn was found guilty of murdering his wife, Ashley Flynn.

The jury found Flynn guilty of all nine charges Tuesday after deliberating for nearly two and a half hours, according to CNN. He was convicted of aggravated murder, murder, two counts of felony murder, two counts of felonious assault, and three counts of tampering with evidence.

Prosecutors argued that Flynn fatally shot his wife Feb. 16, then staged the scene to make it appear that an intruder was responsible for the crime. He called 911 to report his wife had been shot after someone broke into their home, according to CNN.

Miami County Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Joseph pointed to evidence found at the scene, including a side garage door made to look as if an intruder had damaged it.

The prosecution alleged Flynn shot Ashley twice in the back of the head while she lay in bed, and pointed to the motive as being his escalating affair with his former mistress, Alleigha Botner.

Botner was a key witness in the case and testified against Flynn, at one point telling the court, “I believe that he murdered his wife,” according to CNN.

Text messages between Flynn and Botner were presented in court, including a 2025 message from Flynn that read, “I just want her dead and gone.” (RELATED: Actress Admits She Wanted To Force Her Straight Son Gay In Deranged Speech)

Flynn bowed his head and sobbed as the verdict was read. The judge revoked his bond and set a sentencing date of Oct. 5. He faces life in prison without parole.

Flynn’s defense attorneys said they expect to move forward with a notice of appeal.
