European suicide rate falls

“The European Union’s age-standardized suicide rate fell to 10.4 suicides per 100,000 people in 2023, down from 12.2 in 2013, a decline of almost 15 percent.”

Euronews reports:

“More than 48,000 EU residents died as a result of intentional self-harm in 2023, according to the latest Eurostat data — a number that has been slowly dropping over the past decade.

It is equivalent to a standardized death rate of 10.4 per 100,000 people, declining slightly from 10.6 in 2022 and 12.2 in 2013.”

Virginia’s former Democratic Lieutenant Governor, Justin Fairfax, murdered his wife and then committed suicide.

A suicide bomber recently killed 17 people at a police checkpoint in Pakistan.

In February, a suicide bomber killed 31 people at a mosque in Pakistan’s capital.
