Lecturer who allegedly called Jewish students ‘colonizers’ and segregated them sues Stanford for terminating him

“A former Stanford University instructor who allegedly put Jewish students in a corner during a class exercise filed a lawsuit against the institution, saying his termination was wrongful,” reports Campus Reform.

During an October 10, 2023 class session, Loggins reportedly asked Jewish students to stand in a corner of the classroom. Loggins’ contract was not renewed in January.

Loggins claimed in the lawsuit filed on April 10 that Stanford administrators took action against him and publicly shared his work status because he’s Black and Muslim. His court complaint claims Stanford officials’ actions were discriminatory because they “do not publicly confirm personnel actions taken against Caucasian, Jewish and non-Muslim employees.”

Loggins also accused a Ph.D. student of slander in the lawsuit, citing a Stanford Daily article where that Ph.D student described Loggins as among “Stanford’s most racist faculty members” during a Congressional hearing.

In a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle, a Stanford spokesperson said, “We are disappointed that Mr. Loggins has chosen to file this lawsuit and we will vigorously defend against the claims being made.”

Rabbi Dov Greenberg, director of the Chabad Stanford Jewish Center, noted that students described Loggins as asking Jewish students to identify themselves, and then telling them to grab their belongings and stand in a corner, stating, “This is what Israel does to the Palestinians.” “How many people died in the Holocaust?” Loggins asked. “Six million,” a student responded. “Colonizers killed more than 6 million. Israel is a colonizer,” Loggins said.  According to witnesses, Loggins also said, “Hamas is a legitimate representation of the Palestinian people. They are not a terrorist group. They are freedom fighters. Their actions are legitimate.”

Other universities have been more indulgent toward pro-Hamas campus radicals. When pro-Hamas protesters shut down a speech by a Democratic Congressman at the University of Maryland, the University’s president called it “democracy” in action.

Colleges have double standards that favor pro-Hamas demonstrators. Colleges are allowing illegal, masked pro-Hamas rallies, in states and cities that have anti-mask laws and ordinances that have been upheld by appeals courts. They allow such rallies, even when laws ban public mask-wearing except for Halloween and health reasons. They do so even though colleges would never tolerate mask-wearing right-wing protesters. With their identities hidden, these mask-wearing pro-Hamas protesters are emboldened to commit acts of vandalism and to physically threaten classmates they view as “Zionist.”

As law professor David Bernstein observes, “the biggest problem with how many campuses are handling pro-Hamas protests right now is … a failure to enforce existing, content-neutral rules” against misbehavior like going into classrooms to disrupt class with noisy protests that make it impossible to hear what the professor is saying. As history professor KC Johnson notes, “recent disruptive anti-Israel protests –students with bullhorns interrupting classes, etc)–were organized by unrecognized student groups. They’re ‘technically not permitted to stage on-campus demonstrations’” at schools like Harvard, because of their unrecognized status. So “Why hasn’t Harvard enforced its rules?”

State universities and other units of government are constitutionally forbidden to have ideological double standards in who they allow to demonstrate. But in practice, they have such double standards.

Harvard told Jews to “hide” their menorah at night during Hanukkah. But it provided round-the-clock protection for a wall of posters with anti-Israel slogans.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) staff harbor high levels of antisemitism, reports The College Fix.  In a recent Harvard-Harris poll, most young adults surveyed said they believed “Jews as a class are oppressors.”

At San Francisco State University, left-wing students offered to donate money for the killing of Jews.
