CNN host shocked that Clinton aides destroyed her cell phones with hammers

If they had a hammer….

CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin was so surprised to learn that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s aides destroyed her phones with a hammer, she literally couldn’t believe it.

During “CNN Newsroom” Friday afternoon, Baldwin was hosting a panel to discuss the FBI’s release of documents pertaining to the Clinton investigation. Republican nominee Donald Trump campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn rattled off many of the harmful revelations from the new documents:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

She thought that C, which stands for classified, stood for cookie, or something. She said the reason she used the private server was for convenience, that she only had one device, [but] she used 13 Blackberries … this is somebody who is absolutely disqualified from becoming president. They destroyed Blackberries with hammers!

Baldwin found that statement so astonishing that she interrupted and demanded an immediate fact-check from reporter Evan Perez.

“Evan, hold on, can you fact check?” Baldwin asked. “Evan Perez? Hammers? Fact check that for me, on the fly.”

Perez replied that, indeed, Clinton’s aides really had smashed up her phones.

“Yes they did, Brooke,” Perez replied. “As he mentioned, there were 13 mobile devices and 5 iPads that the FBI said that in some way were used with her private email server, and they did in some cases just destroy them with hammers when they were done using them.”

Baldwin made no response to Perez’s confirmation, other than a brief “They did,” as Epshteyn seized the opportunity to continue bashing Clinton.

This report, by Blake Neff, was cross-posted by arrangement with the Daily Caller News Foundation.
