ISIS bad, Islam good. That is what the White House would have us believe. “Moderate” Muslims? They’re the victims of religious persecution, which prompted the U.S. president to state in a 2012 speech that “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

As for Christians? The only time in recent memory that Barack Obama spoke about Christianity, it was in defense of Islam. He pointed out that Christians have shed their fair share of blood, making specific mention of the Crusades.

So much a target is Christianity in the U.S. nowadays that last November actress Jennifer Lawrence went on a tear, remarking on “all those people holding their crucifixes, which may as well be pitchforks, thinking they’re fighting the good fight.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

If you really want to see the “good fight,” at least as it is defined by the liberal Left, then train your gaze on Egypt, where yesterday, the Independent notes:

A 70-year-old Christian woman has been stripped naked, beaten and paraded through the streets by a mob of around 300 Muslim men in a village in southern Egypt.

The mob also burned down seven homes belonging to Christian families, according to an unusually outspoken statement issued by the local Orthodox Coptic church, after rumours circulated in the village that a Christian man was having a relationship with a Muslim woman.

The violence started at around 8pm on 20 May, and the local diocese said it was two hours before police responded, by which point the mob had already dispersed.

The woman who was stripped naked was reported to be the mother of the man involved in the rumoured affair. She has since met with church leaders, the Diocese of Minya and Abu Qirqas said.

Before you criticize what sounds for all the world like an act of savagery more than an outpouring of faith, bear in mind that the woman’s son had “slandered the the prophet of Islam” … allegedly.
