This story is a fresh candidate for the Why We Can’t Have Nice Things file.

First, the vitally important news from the world of children’s multimedia: A new feature-length Thomas the Tank Engine film titled has been released. Its title is “Thomas and Friends: The Great Race.”

According to its description at Sky News, it will feature a “multicultural” assortment of friends from around the world. That should delight liberals everywhere.

But it doesn’t:

A second tweet informs that critics have called the film “too politically correct,” which seems odd coming from the left.

I can appreciate that with 24 hours to fill, Sky News needs occasionally to “stretch the soup” to avoid unfilled air time, but do they really think that sweating the details over whether a children’s film meets some quota will strike viewers as anything other than empty air time?
