Bombshell: 72 Dept. of Homeland Security employees on terrorist watch list

From Boston’s WGBH:

Earlier this month, 47 democrats [sic] in the house of representatives [sic] defied a house [sic] veto threat by backing a GOP bill to ramp up screening requirements for Syrian and Iraqi refugees. Congressman Stephen Lynch was among them.

An audio link is provided to an interview Lynch gave Boston Public Radio, as well as the transcript, which includes two rather astonishing claims, especially the first:

Back in August, we did an investigation — the inspector General did — of the Department of Homeland Security, and they had 72 individuals that were on the terrorist watch list that were actually working at the Department of Homeland Security. The director had to resign because of that. Then we went further and did and [sic] eight-airport investigation. We had staffers go into eight different airports to test the department of homeland security [sic] screening process at major airports. They had a 95 percent failure rate. We had folks — this was a testing exercise, so we had folks going in there with guns on their ankles, and other weapons on their persons, and there was a 95 percent failure rate.

There are people in the cabinet department created after 9/11 with the express sole purpose of protecting the American homeland against future terrorist attacks, and six dozen of the employees in that department are on a terrorist watch list. How is that even remotely possible? Were these people not vetted before they were hired? And once it was confirmed that they were on a terrorist watch list, is there some reasonable explanation for why they weren’t immediately terminated?

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

And in the face of this breathtaking admission, the administration continues to dither on the subject of terrorism, claiming that the biggest threat facing Americans is global warming.
