Newlywed murdered wife’s purported rapist, cut off his genitals … and then did something really nuts

At some point, this story of revenge and street justice takes an extremely weird turn. It is up to readers to say exactly when that is.

According to Agence France Presse, the bizarre tale begins in September, on the wedding night of 30-year-old Rudi Efendi and his new bride, Nuriah, in the Indonesian province of Lampung. When  Efendi discovered that Nuriah was not a virgin, he demanded an explanation — and was told that she had been sexually assaulted by a man she previously dated.

Efendi ordered his wife to contact the alleged rapist and set up a meeting. But when the ex arrived at the appointed rendezvous, he found only Efendi, who proceeded to stab him to death and set him on fire — first taking care to chop off and collect his man parts.

“I was so outraged,” Efendi told reporters last month, that the only way “to cure my heartache” was to eat the victim’s genitals — which he ordered his 20-year-old wife to cook for him. He also insisted that she sit down and partake of nature’s bounty along with him. (No word on whether the couple rounded out the meal with fava beans and a nice Chianti.)

The dead man’s remains, minus his junk, were found in early October in a burnt-out van in the Tulangbawang district of Lampung province. Police later arrested Efendi and his wife.

Sulistyaningsih, a local police spokeswoman who goes by one name, told AFP: “The case is still under investigation but we strongly suspect that this is a premeditated murder.”

The husband is accused of carrying out the murder, while police believe the wife acted as an accomplice.
