Brave new world: College course teaches that dildos are racist

The phrase “There’s an app for that” is rapidly being replaced by “There’s a college course for that.” LU’s Ben Bowles has been tracking the progress of race huckster DeRay McKesson’s one-credit course at Yale titled ‘Transformational Leadership in the #BlackLivesMatter Movement,” which has included a unit exploring the moral and socioeconomic justifications of looting.

But that’s just scratching the surface. A cursory examination of syllabi from institutions of higher learning around the country reveal there’s a course designed to make “whiteness” seem strange and a course that challenges students to invent a new porn genre.

Added to this embarrassment of riches is a course that teaches that dildos are racist. The offering is available to students at San Francisco State University and is taught by Amy Sueyoshi, associate dean of the College of Ethnic Studies. According to SoCawledge:

Sueyoshi’s specialties include sexuality, gender, and race. She is the author of “Queer Compulsions: Race, Nation, and Sexuality in the Affairs of Yone Noguchi” and has lectured on a number of issues on race and sexuality such as cross-dressing, pornography, and marriage equality.

When she’s not in the classroom or at her computer hammering out scholarly tracts, Sueyoshi busies herself the GLBT Historical Society, which she co-chairs.

But back to the dildo course titled “Dildos & Race in America.” Among the assigned readings is a study by Allison Alavi that compares white and black dildos and their corresponding biological man parts. Americans, Alavi posits, are conditioned to view black dildos and black men’s sexuality as dangerous and sinful in contrast to white dildos, which are portrayed as sensual and erotic.

Alavi further submits that stereotypes of black men having abnormally large penises were interpreted by white Europeans as a symbol of hyper sexuality and was used as one more way white slaveholders could justify slavery.

In case you’re wondering, San Francisco State is a public university, which means that taxpayers are footing Sueyoshi’s $131,326 compensation annually.
