Tweet of the Day: Say hello to Obama’s next education secretary

With the announcement by Arne Duncan that he would be stepping down from his post as Secretary of Education in December, the number of Barack Obama’s original cabinet appointments that remain on board have dwindled down to a precious few. If Obama has had to wait longer for cabinet confirmations than other recent presidents, as pointed out by the blog FiveThirtyEight, the reason arguably has much to do with the radical nature of his appointments.

Which brings to possible replacements for Duncan. One candidate who has made his availability known on Twitter is guy who lives in Obama’s Chicago neighborhood:

Twitchy features one reaction to Ayers’s announcement by someone named Alex Jeffries, who writes:

Jeffries’s reference is a whimsical one that recalls Bill Ayers’s most notable “achievement”: detonating a bomb in a bathroom at the Pentagon during his time as leader of the Marxist terrorist group Weather Underground.

Actually, the idea of demolishing the federal Department of Education is not wholly without merit, provided no one is inside the building at the time of the blast.
