Pope Francis’s speech before Congress Thursday not only earned thunderous applause but also brought congressmen and even the vice president to tears.
In his speech, Francis called America “the land of the free and the home of the brave” and immediately the tears started flowing from Speaker of the House John Boehner’s eyes.

But Boehner wasn’t alone in shedding tears. It wasn’t long before the pope had Vice President Joe Biden began to get watery-eyed too.

Tears were being shed elsewhere in Congress too. Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Marco Rucio Rubio of Florida (who is also running for president) were reportedly shedding tears as well during the pope’s speech. No doubt there were many more members of Congress who were also holding back tears during the speech.
OMG Susan Collins seems to be holding back tears.
