While Planned Parenthood traffics in baby parts, New York abortion clinics escape inspection

Recent video of Dr. Deborah Nucatola, a senior director at Planned Parenthood, discussing the organization’s methods for disposing of body parts from aborted fetuses has prompted an investigation to see whether the group is illegally profiting from trafficking those organs.

Meanwhile, abortion clinics such as those operated by Planned Parenthood have escaped regulation and inspection in New York for well over a decade.

Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin responded to the horrific video on social media, but also warned that trafficking of baby organs may be happening in New York clinics as well.

“If you think it’s isolated; it isn’t,” he wrote. “If you think it’s not happening in New York you are most likely wrong. I say most likely because NY has not held abortion clinic inspections in a dozen years.”

McLaughlin added, “We have and are continuing to push this issue but [Gov. Andrew] Cuomo’s ‘health’ department is ignoring [it].”

A bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis to “require the commissioner of the Department of Health to undertake periodic inspections of abortion clinics” was introduced in January. Bill number A03048A has languished in the Assembly since an amendment was printed in March, and has yet to be voted on.

The justification for the bill indicates how Planned Parenthood abortion clinics in New York have escaped scrutiny. In line with McLaughlin’s statements about abortion inspections, it reads:

A recent Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request uncovered the fact that only 17 of the 25 abortion clinics in New York had been inspected between 2000 and 2012, and five of those 17 had received only one inspection during that time period. Eight abortion clinics received no inspections.”

For a governor so focused on women’s health concerns, it’s remarkable that Cuomo has yet to take executive action regarding a bill that would require periodic inspections of abortion mills.  As the bill indicates, the intended goal is to “afford women the proper protections and highest standards befitting a facility that conducts such sensitive procedures, without altering the current status of access to abortion in this state.”

Seems like something even Democrats could get on board with.

Instead, we have Planned Parenthood clinics that could very well be engaging in the trafficking of body parts and operating in “filthy” conditions that are worse than those found in tanning salons or the local pizzeria.

Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney has also responded to the horrific Planned Parenthood video, issuing a letter to Governor Cuomo requesting “a full and formal investigation into all Planned Parenthood facilities in New York State.”

“I am sure all New Yorkers would be relieved to know with certainty that the abhorrent practice shown in the aforesaid video, is not occurring in New York,” she concluded.

Until then, one can only wonder if it really is.
