Former Obama mouthpiece Robert Gibbs goes to work for Mickey D

He may have served one president as point man but now Robert Gibbs is serving billions daily. Burgers, that is, not commanders-in-chief.

He won’t be bagging fries, though, or earning minimum wage. According to Business Insider, Gibbs joined the golden arches organization today in the capacity of public relations chief and will report to McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook.

In a release Easterbrook wrote:

Robert and Silvia [Lagnado, also hired today as chief marketing officer] are both highly-respected, talented leaders who will bring a wealth of experience and outside perspective to McDonald’s as we build a more modern, progressive burger company.

Returning excitement to our business proposition and brand is foundational to our turnaround plan, and Robert and Silvia — with their respective teams — will play critical roles in bringing this strategy to life. [Emphasis added]

Progressive burger company? Would that be a fast food restaurant where the line for service forms on the left? Where food is free for lower-income patrons and costs a thousand times listed prices for prosperous-looking customers? Where sodas are replaced by skim milk and beef patties by tofu?

Your witness.
