“The word’s out that he hasn’t paid any taxes for 10 years. Let him prove that he has paid taxes, because he hasn’t.” The charge was leveled at GOP president nominee in August 2012. The accuser? Then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
As Bret Baier of Fox News stated:
Romney produced tax returns — showing he had — in fact — paid his taxes. Politifact ruled — pants on fire — that Reid produced no evidence to back up his contention on the Senate floor.
So does Reid regret the accusation? No way.
When asked during a one-on-one with CNN’s Dana Bash whether he regretted that slanderous accusation, which, she added, “some people have … called … McCarthy-ite,” a smug Reid replied, “Well, they can call it whatever they want, ummm… Romney didn’t win did he?”
Kinda makes you want to blacken Reid’s other eye, doesn’t it?
