Obama: ‘We didn’t mislead on health care.’ Is he for real? (Video)

The current game among top Democrats is to downplay MIT economist Jonathan Gruber’s role in the Affordable Care Act or to deny his involvement altogether. But Barack Obama set a new bar on duplicity on Sunday when he denied that his signature health care reform law was deceptively marketed. Speaking at the G20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia, he said with a straight face:

The fact that an adviser who was never on our staff expressed an opinion that I completely disagree with in terms of the voters is not a reflection on the actual process that was run.

[…]

I would just advise every press outlet here: Pull up every clip and every story. I think it’s fair to say there was not a provision in the health care law that was not extensively debated and was fully transparent. It was a tough debate.

He can’t be serious. Has he forgotten being awarded Politifact’s “Lie of the Year” award for 2013 for claiming on 30-plus separate occasions that if you like your doctor/health plan, you can keep your doctor/health plan?

Obama’s tenure as president has been so scarred by scandal, it is understandable that he himself would begin to forget certain derelictions. The general public already appears to have forgotten the revelation this past June that a member of his administration outed the name of a CIA operative in Afghanistan. Never mind that the man’s position as a station chief made the leak a far greater security breach than the outing of Valeire Plame or that it put his life in danger. There has been so much else that has gone sour — the IRS, the V.A., and the Benghazi coverup, to name but a few — it is perhaps understandable that some of Obama’s sins would outweigh others.

But Obamacare and his repeated lies? Does he really believe (along with Jonathan Gruber) that Americans are so stupid that they will forget the promise he broke again and again? Apparently so. After all, he did “advise every press outlet” to “pull up every clip and every story.”

Here you go, Mr. Preisdent:
