Andrew Cuomo: Al Sharpton has made America a better place

Last night at his star-studded birthday party in Manhattan, a man who should hide his head in shame as one of the worst race-baiters in our nation’s history, was instead feted by the mayor of New York City, the Governor of New York, and the President of the United States.

That man is Al Sharpton, who, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo, has made America a better place.

Via Capital New York:

America is a better place because of the Rev. Al Sharpton, Governor Andrew Cuomo said tonight at a star-studded 60th birthday party for the activist and television commentator.

“He has grown immensely over the years. He is no longer New York’s Rev. Al Sharpton; he’s the nation’s Rev. Al Sharpton, and the nation is better for it,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo wasn’t the only Democrat singing the praises of Sharpton.

The Daily News reports that also in attendance were New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D), U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Rep. Charles Rangel (D-Harlem) and Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-Manhattan, Brooklyn) all stopped by for some of the fun.

Bill De Blasio for his part claimed Sharpton was a blessing to the city of New York.

I’m not sure Stephen Pagones or members of the police department falsely accused of raping Tawana Brawley back in 1987 would agree with that characterization.

Here’s a short list of other things Sharpton has done to “make America better”:

  • Telling an audience member on the Morton Downey Jr. Show that “you a punk faggot.”
  • Calling Greeks “homos.”
  • Inciting a three-day riot in Crown Heights that resulted in an innocent Hasidic Jewish student visiting from Australia.
  • Starting a protest at Freddie’s Fashion Mart in Harlem that led one protester to attack the store, shoot several customers, and start a fire that killed seven employees.

Yes Governor, he’s practically a national treasure.
