The announcement just came over the wire that Secret Service Director Julia Pierson has resigned.

From CNBC (via Associated Press):

Pierson has been under pressure since it came to light that a fence-jumper had made it further into the White House than previously reported. At a congressional hearing on Tuesday, she admitted that there had been mistakes in the execution of the agency’s “security plan.”

After the testimony, High-ranking lawmakers from both parties urged Pierson to resign.

A number of high-ranking members of Congress were after Pierson’s head following her lame testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Tuesday. Among those demanding her ouster were Sen. Chuck Schumer, the No. three Senate Democrat, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a senior Republican on the committee that heard the Secret Service testimony

House Speaker John Boehner said Pierson’s appearance before the House “left us with more questions than answers.”
