Ex-PLO adviser: Racist to say Hamas using human shields (even though that’s the case)

“Denial,” the old saw goes, “is not just a river in Egypt.”

Via Weasel Zippers, CNN’s Jake Tapper over the weekend confronted Dianna Buttu, former PLO legal adviser, with the words of a spokesman for Hamas who appeared on Palestinian television urging women and children to serve as human shields. Watch Buttu’s reaction to this allegation. Then watch the actual clip in which spokesman, Sami Abu Zuhri, calls on civilians to volunteer as martyrs.

Just in case there are still doubters among you, here is another clip, this one from Hamas T.V., “glorifying the culture of martyrdom among young kids.”

And here is another of Muslims cheering and chanting “Allahu Akbar” as rockets are fired into Israel:

And where is the mainstream media on all of this? Here’s the New York Times from last week:

But the events on Tuesday were another example of a contentious Israeli policy in which occupants of a building about to be bombed or shelled are given a brief warning in Arabic to evacuate.

In the Times’s world view, Hamas is doing what it has to counter Israeli “oppression.”
