Picture of the Day: Pelosi washes the feet of immigrants — for real!

This is no joke; at least it’s not meant to be one. The ever-clownish Nancy Pelosi took time out Thursday to “honor the dignity and work of immigrants,” in the words of the San Francisco Chronicle blog SFGate, by washing the feet of immigrant children at the Bay City’s Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church.

Never one to stray far from politics, Pelosi used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 — an immigration bill that her office says would “reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship.”

Critics of the measure have argued that the cost of implementation would far outweigh any possible benefits.

Pelosi’s message — which has been echoed in one form of another by top Democrats (Hillary Clinton, as a case in point, called illegals “inspiring” and “incredibly brave”) — is intended to mimic the actions of the Pope, who held a similar foot-washing ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Pope Pelosi? Doesn’t quite come tripping off the tongue.
