The birthplace of Egypt’s revolution has become a veritable no-go zone for women due to the spike in gang rapes, and the blame for the increase in sexual assaults has been placed squarely on the women themselves, as reported by the New York Times.
Cairo’s Tahrir Square was the epicenter of the 2011 revolution against Egypt’s then President Hosni Mubarak, but has since degraded into a veritable cesspool of sexual crimes against women, and the new political elite in the African nation know exactly who’s to blame — the women.
The Times notes:
Under President Hosni Mubarak, the omnipresent police kept sexual assault out of the public squares and the public eye.
But since Mr. Mubarak’s exit in 2011, the withdrawal of the security forces has allowed sexual assault to explode into the open, terrorizing Egyptian women.
As a case in point, Adel Abdel Maqsoud Afifi, a police general, lawmaker and ultraconservative Islamist was quoted as stating, “Sometimes a girl contributes 100 percent to her own raping when she puts herself in these conditions.” And Reda Saleh Al al-Hefnawi, a lawmaker from the Muslim Brotherhood’s political party, declared that the women themselves provoked the attacks by simply participating in the Tahrir Square protests.
The Attacks…
During a demonstration on Jan. 25, 2013, a group of Egyptians protested against the Islamic Brotherhood government now in power. On that day alone, 18 women were were sexually assaulted. One was stabbed in her genitals, another required a hysterectomy due to the severity of her attack, and yet another was gang raped for 45 minutes straight.
The Lara Logan Episode…
As previously reported by Examiner.com, during the Tahrir Square celebration of the resignation of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Canadian citizen and CBS correspondent Lara Logan was sexually attacked by hundreds of men.
Blonde haired blue eyed TV journalist Lara Logan who was reporting for CBS News was not wearing a headscarf.
Being uncovered it was obvious that she was not an Egyptian Muslim woman, hence she was an open target.
Logan was beaten and gang raped by a crowd of three hundred men who were screaming ‘Jew! Jew!’ and ‘American bitch!’ although she is neither Jewish nor American.
