Wait, what? Trump should be banned from Twitter because he is a global warming skeptic?

A California State, Sacramento academic believes President-elect Donald Trump should be barred from using the Internet because he’s a global warming skeptic.

Joseph Palermo, a history professor and writer at the the university, suggested that Republicans who don’t believe in so-called man-made global warming should not be allowed to use anything produced using science.

In an op-ed for Huffington Post published Tuesday, Palermo wrote:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

If Trump and his cohort believe the science of global warming is bogus then they shouldn’t be allowed to use the science of the Internet for their Twitter accounts.

Warning: Attempting to make logical sense out of that observation may lead to serious headaches.

Palermo also blasted Republicans for essentially tying themselves to old, backward ways of thinking:

We’re now entering a period where the U.S. military’s 22nd Century weapons technology is in the hands of those whose mentality hasn’t really left the Bronze Age.

The bad professor went on to lament what he said was a political environment where Democrats are the only ones “trying to remain in the fact-based world and accept the validity of scientific inquiry.”

Trump once suggested that climate change is a “hoax created by China” to disrupt the U.S. economy and harm American business. He has since moderated his position, telling reporters earlier this month that he is “open-minded” on global warming.

The former reality TV star pointed to the “Climategate” email scandal as an example of the confusion surrounding the topic. The 2009 emails showed that Climate scientists allegedly futzed around with climate data to make warming look worse than it was.

Recent studies show global warming has slowed to a crawl over the past 20 years, leaving scientists hard-pressed to explain the slowdown. The so-called “hiatus” in global warming is causing researchers to rethink the climate models used to predict future warming.

The climate warmed at about half the rate predicted by climate models since 2000, according to a study conducted Dec.1 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The researchers now suggest there’s a slight chance the globe will start cooling in the future.
