Video: Prager U on what’s wrong with socialism

If you’re young and just getting started in life, do you want to own your own house, drive your own car, and pay for your own food and health care? Or do you want to live with your parents as long as possible, and later, after you’ve left the nest, still have someone else help pay for your food, your car, your health care and other necessities?

Today, vast numbers of young Americans count themselves among the latter group. They’d rather have other people pay for their lives than support themselves. In short, they believe in socialism.

In the video that follows, Dennis Prager explains that socialism not only creates poverty — it actually makes you selfish. It teaches you to want more and more and more of other people’s things, and to see those things as entitlements. Meanwhile, capitalism teaches people to earn money by working hard, while also giving to others. So, which is more altruistic: capitalism or socialism?

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
