Much of the country had that same concern, twice over the past eight years, regarding the Democratic nominee. But instead of having “somebody who could do the job” of president, we have had to settle for Barack Obama.
Who, as coincidence would have it, was the speaker of those words. He was a guest once again on a late-night television talk show (yawn!), this time the “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” which will air this evening.
According to Time magazine, he told the host:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
The truth is actually I am worried about the Republican Party. And — and I know that sounds — you know — you know what it sounds like. You want the Republican nominee to be somebody who could do the job if they win. And you want folks who understand the issues. And where you can sit across the table from them and you have a principled argument. And ultimately can still move the country forward.

So, let’s see. Someone who can understand the issues: check. Someone who you can sit across the table from them [sic] and you have a principled argument: check. And ultimately can still move the country forward: checkmate.
He just described three attributes that he himself sorely lacks. His understanding of the issues is limited to whatever fits the radical-left paradigm. His capacity to sit down with anyone who espouses a viewpoint different from his own is non-existent. It’s been his way or the highway from Day One of his presidency.
As for moving the country forward, he has certainly made good on his threat to radically transform the nation, which doubtless was the inspiration for the campaign slogan of the man Obama in his gall was sizing up.
