And another six weeks of winter, one guesses.
On Tuesday, a grand jury in Harris County, Texas, cleared Houston police officer Juventino Castro in the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Jordan Baker, a black man who was unarmed at the time. On Wednesday, Christmas Eve, D.C. police shot and killed a man who fled when officers approached him. The man matched the description of a suspect in a robbery that had just occurred and, according a second report, turned and fired at police as they pursued him. On Thursday, Christmas, demonstrators in Oakland, Calif., staged a “No Time Off” march — by smashing windows and destroying Christmas decorations — to protest trigger-happy cops. While they were at it, some protesters took time out to loot a liquor store.
The race of the man gunned down in Washington has not been made public, but some on Twitter have already made the leap to the conclusion he was black:

Cop kills black man in SE DC http://t.co/aITV3tuE4S — folks, why police happen to kill black people? Really. So we say. #BlackLivesMatter — Occupy Theory (@occupytheory) December 24, 2014
It is worth noting that the article from WUSA linked to by Twitter user “home. hope. love” is the same one linked to earlier in this story, but there is no mention in it of the dead man’s skin color.
