Man Named ‘Hitler Mussolini’ Wins Mayoral Election

By Ben Sellers

A Peruvian district elected a new mayor with a name straight out of a history textbook on 20th-century dictators: Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores.

Flores, the candidate for the Ahora Nación party, was the projected winner in a recent mayoral race for the Queropalca district.

Flores finished with a reported 229 votes (34.54 percent), besting his second-place rival by 25 votes, Perú 21 reported.

“However, the coincidence of names does not in itself demonstrate that the candidate has any ideological connection to those figures, nor does it allow for the attribution of specific political stances to him,” the outlet noted, urging readers to dig deeper into Flores’ record via his official candidate profile.

The 45-year-old manager at Simeon Sac investment group appeared to share only limited information about his party affiliations. He lists a 4×4 pickup truck and a dump truck among his assets. (RELATED: Faith Groups Warn Proposed Law Could Blind America To Christian Massacres)

Flores’ party, Ahora Nación, supports policies including universal health care. The party was founded in 2023, amid the political upheaval that followed the removal and arrest of then-President Pedro Castillo.

Flores’ projected victory comes as Peru enters a new political chapter under conservative President Keiko Fujimori, the daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori. She served as first lady during her father’s presidency and assumed office herself in July.

Euronews noted that at least two other recent Peruvian political figures also have had “Hitler” as a first name.

The other two were members of the right-leaning Partido Democrático Somos Perú.

Hitler Alba, like Flores, was mayor of a small Andean town from 2011 to 2014.

He called himself “the good Hitler,” while maintaining that his father was unaware of the Nazi leader’s legacy.

However, his own political legacy faced a challenge in 2018 from rival candidate Lennin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde, who questioned Alba’s validity as a candidate.

Hitler Saavedra, a surgeon by trade, served as a congressman in Lima for three years until he died in 2024 at the age of 46.
