An explosion was reported at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, early Sunday local time.

Oslo police said the incident took place at around 1 a.m., adding that they are in dialogue with the embassy and that no injuries have been reported. On-site incident commander Mikael Dellemyr confirmed the blast struck the embassy’s consular entrance, Reuters reported. Police said it suffered only minor damage. Dellemyr said police are searching the vicinity for any potential threats to embassy workers or locals, according to local reporting by VG

Police have deployed large numbers of resources around the U.S. embassy, according to law enforcement’s statement. (RELATED: ‘They’re Great Heroes’: American Service Members Killed By Iranian Retaliatory Strikes Welcomed Home)

Dogs, drones and helicopters have joined officers in the area, witnesses said. Authorities continue to search for the alleged perpetrators, according to VG.

“I was sleeping and was woken up by the explosion. It was really powerful. We also saw heavy smoke from the embassy,” a neighbor of the embassy told VG.

Dellemyr said they have suspicions about what caused the explosion, but did not want to disclose them because it is an active investigation, VG reported. He said the area had also been searched for potential danger, but there were no reports anything was found.

The incident is under investigation.

The U.S. Embassy in Norway and the Oslo police have not responded to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
