Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) told CNN’s “Newsroom” on Thursday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi needs to do the “patriotic” thing and impeach President Trump.

Cohen, who’s known for using ridiculous hyperbole to make his points, added that the president was acting like a “reckless gangster” and suggested that removing him from office would be “a heavenly cause.”

That’s right, the party of infanticide and radical anti-American politics wants you to believe that their resistance cause is one backed by patriotism and God.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Battling Pelosi

Discussion of impeachment during his CNN interview hinged on an earlier closed-door exchange Cohen had with Pelosi, in which the California Democrat denied accusations that she would not pursue action against the President for political reasons. “This isn’t about politics at all,” Pelosi told the fringe members of her party demanding action. “It’s about patriotism.”

It was an interesting observation coming from Pelosi, who also believes that crossing the southern border of the U.S. illegally is also a “patriotic” act.

“She needs to do what’s right,” Cohen fired back during Thursday’s segment. “She says that she’s doing this because of patriotism, not politics. It’s hard to see that. I mean, patriotism would say jump into hell for a heavenly cause.”

Cohen pressed further, challenging Pelosi to impeach the president – for America!

“You have a Constitution, and you have a rule of law, and it’s being destroyed in a reckless gangster manner, you need to act,” he claimed. “I think … the only reason not to act is because of politics.”

Pelosi Not Patriotic

Host Poppy Harlow, surprised, said “It sounds like you’re saying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is not being patriotic. Is that right?”

“No, not necessarily,” Cohen responded after clearly stating that he was.

“You’re saying she’s putting politics above patriotism in this instance?” Harlow pressed further.

Cohen replied, “I hate to get into it with Nancy. Nancy and I have a great relationship, and I’m not going to spoil that.”

Cohen’s Reckless Gangster Rhetoric

The Representative from Tennessee has a long history of being reckless with his words, a misunderstanding with what they mean that would make Ilhan Omar blush.

Earlier this week, Cohen incorrectly stated that former President Bill Clinton faced impeachment proceedings “over sex,” while President Trump is “raping the country.”

Cohen introduced articles of impeachment in 2017 over the president’s reaction to violence in Charlottesville, Va., which has been proven to be a media-generated hoax.

Lying doesn’t strike me as a very heavenly cause, and claiming the President of the United States is “raping the country” doesn’t seem very patriotic. Censuring you for being perpetually loose with your words and accusations, on the other hand, might be. Come on, Nancy, do the patriotic thing and shut this man down.
