At least the networks have broken their silence. When the story of two illegal aliens accused of raping a 14-year-old female in the bathroom of a high school in Rockville, Md., broke back in March, the mainstream media were steadfast in their refusal to report it. Now that the charges against the two teenage suspects have been dismissed, NBC News has demonstrated a willingness to cover the case, though the network still can’t bring itself to state the facts. Nowhere in the headline or opening paragraph does the word illegal appear in connection with the residency status of 18-year-old Henry E. Sanchez-Milian and 17-year-old Jose O. Montano.
As for the dismissal of charges, NBC quotes Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy, who said at a news conference Friday:
We have concluded that the facts in this case do not support the original charges filed in this matter. Due to the lack of corroboration and substantial inconsistencies from the facts that we have obtained from multiple sources since the filing of the original charging document, the original charges cannot be sustained, and prosecution on those charges is untenable.
The two suspects faced maximum sentences of life in prison if they had been found guilty of rape and are still likely to be charged with possession and distribution of pornography. Deportation proceedings against them are also underway.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
But the victim’s story of having been sexually assaulted after refusing consensual sex with the two male teens appears to have been contradicted by text messages discovered on her cell phone.
