In the presidential debate last night, Joe Biden claimed that “a lot of young women are being raped” by their “sisters”, “in-laws,” and “brothers.” That sensationalist claim about women frequently raping their sisters was not accurate. It may be yet another example of Biden demagoguing issues related to gender and sexual abuse. In 2000, he denounced the Supreme Court for striking down a gender provision (42 U.S.C. 13981) as unconstitutional. When that unconstitutional provision was being drafted, and Chief Justice William Rehnquist raised concerns about it, Biden arrogantly said that the Chief Justice did “not know what he was talking about.”
Biden’s false claim about widespread sexual abuse by sisters wasn’t even relevant to the thing it responded to, which was about crimes being committed by illegal aliens. Biden said, “she was murdered by an immigrant. But here’s the deal, a lot of young women are being raped by their in-laws. By their spouses. By their brothers and sisters. It’s just ridiculous.”
His exaggerated claim about incest and rape may have been an example of projection — Biden may assume that his own sexually inappropriate behavior is more common among Americans than it actually is. Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley Biden cited sexually “inappropriate” behavior by Joe Biden toward her in her diary, although it didn’t rise to the level of the sexual assault by Joe Biden that was alleged by Tara Reade. Ashley Biden just alleged being “hypersexualized” and taking sexually “inappropriate” showers with Joe Biden.
Reade’s allegations were more serious. As the New York Times reported, Joe Biden has been accused of sexual assault by a former Senate aide, Tara Reade. Reade “told The New York Times that in 1993, Mr. Biden pinned her to a wall in a Senate building, reached under her clothing and penetrated her with his fingers. A friend said that Ms. Reade told her the details of the allegation at the time. Another friend and a brother of Ms. Reade’s said she told them over the years about a traumatic sexual incident involving Mr. Biden.”
Biden’s comment about “a lot of young women being raped” by their “sisters” might also reflect Joe Biden’s mental decay. Biden’s debate performance was so terrible that even most liberal New York Times columnists said that Donald Trump won the debate. He uttered unintelligible sentence fragments, slurred his speech, and said meaningless nonsense things like “We finally beat Medicare.”
The BBC reported that “Biden’s incoherent debate performance heightens fears over his age.” Even liberal journalists agreed. “Look. This debate was a total and complete disaster for Biden. He looked old. His answers trailed off repeatedly. He was hard to understand. He would stop in mid sentence and move on to something else,” former CNN commentator Chris Cilizza wrote. “I NEVER thought he would be this bad. Stunning. Truly.” Most people polled by CNN said Biden lost the debate.
Before the debate, much of the media, such as MSNBC, had falsely claimed that Joe Biden is very sharp, such as MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough claiming that “Biden is far beyond cogent. He is better than he has EVER been intellectually, analytically. He is the best Biden ever.” After the debate publicly exposed how Biden is not cogent at all, and has lost mental acuity with age, Scarborough’s “Morning Joe” show admitted that Biden was such a disaster in the debate that they will not “be spinning” for Biden this morning. Scarborough himself belatedly admitted today that Biden was responsible for “the worst debate performance in modern political history,” plagued by his “inability to complete sentences…One after another after another after another.”
The media should never have attempted to deceive the American people about Joe Biden’s fitness, in the first place. No amount of spinning by the media can deceive the American people at this point.
