A Stanford instructor targeted Jewish students for hostility in his class, and allegedly defended as “legitimate” the killing of 1200 people in Israel by Hamas terrorists:

An instructor at Stanford University has been suspended for what the president and provost called “identity-based targeting” of students in connection with the Israel-Gaza war.

Rabbi Dov Greenberg, director of the Chabad Stanford Jewish Center, said he was told by three students who were in the room that the instructor asked Jewish and Israeli students to identify themselves during a session for a required undergraduate course called “Civil, Liberal and Global Education.”

The teacher told the Jewish students to take their belongings, stand in a corner, and said, “This is what Israel does to the Palestinians,” Greenberg said, citing the student accounts. The instructor then asked, “How many people died in the Holocaust?” When a student answered, “Six million,” the lecturer said, “Colonizers killed more than 6 million. Israel is a colonizer.”….

He allegedly also said, ‘Hamas is a legitimate representation of the Palestinian people. They are not a terrorist group. They are freedom fighters. Their actions are legitimate.’” The vast majority of the people killed by Hamas were civilians, including babies and small children.

Stanford University alluded to this incident in this report:

We have received a report of a class in which a non-faculty instructor is reported to have addressed the Middle East conflict in a manner that called out individual students in class based on their backgrounds and identities….this report is a cause for serious concern. Academic freedom does not permit the identity-based targeting of students.

A diversity and inclusion director at Cornell University supported the Hamas terror attack, and wrote that Hamas was “fighting for life, dignity, and freedom…against settler colonization, imperialism, capitalism, white supremacy, which the United States is the model.”

Hamas seized at least 150 Israelis as hostages, as well as some Europeans and Americans. The seizure of these hostages came after the Biden administration agreed to pay a $6 billion ransom to Iran in exchange for the release of five American hostages.

Hamas admits Iran gave it weapons it used in its attack on Israel. “We thank the Islamic Republic of Iran who provided us with weapons, money and other equipment! He gave us missiles to destroy Zionist fortresses, and helped us with standard anti-tank missiles!”

The Biden administration released millions of dollars to the Hamas-controlled government of the Gaza strip — money that the Trump administration had withheld.

Many colleges have remained neutral about the terrorist attacks in Israel that killed at least 1200 people. As excuses, some have cited goals such as the desire to remain neutral about “geopolitical issues and news events.” Most of those same colleges have previously issued press releases about geopolitical issues and news events, such as the death of George Floyd and climate change policy.

Northwestern University, which scolded the Supreme Court for ruling against race-based college admissions, has refused to “make an institutional statement” about the terror attacks by Hamas that killed relatives of some of its students and staff.
