University equity director says whites should work for free on Juneteenth

White people should work for free on Juneteenth, said the director of race and equity at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Johnathan Perkins wrote that since that under principles of “anti-racism,” whites “should NOT be awarded the day off for Juneteenth.”

He lamented that “Since ‘equality” (identical treatment) is a MUCH more easily attainable goal than ‘equity’ (actual fairness) [even racist] white people get the day off, too.”

In response to a commenter who opined that everyone in our “overworked country” should get the day off, Perkins said “This isn’t surprising because you value community. Most of us do. But white people do not.”

Perkins also said it was “gaslighting” and “racist” for whites to say “I don’t see color,” and complained that the fact that people of all races (not just blacks) get Juneteenth off meant he wasn’t able to see a doctor that day (in reality, many doctors and dentists worked on Juneteenth — the fact that something is a national holiday does not force businesses close on that day, and many stay open in order to pay their bills).

Perkins said he was “Blaming white people, who should ALL be working today, of all damn days. MD offices should be open—Black employees should have a paid day off. Maybe just ONCE, you people could give another group a benefit without ‘sharing’ in it.”

Perkins also tells whites not to wish him a “Happy Juneteenth” because he will “flip tf out” if they do.

Last year, Perkins yearned for the death of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, saying on Twitter that “no one wants to openly admit [we all] hope Clarence Thomas dies,” and referred to the Supreme Court justice as an “Uncle Tom.”

Perkins reacted to the death of England’s Queen Elizabeth by saying,“Good riddance, colonizer.”

Perkins previously worked in Harvard University’s Office General Counsel and at a prestigious law firm in Philadelphia. Perkins fabricated a racial incident in 2011, claiming to be racially harassed by campus cops at the University of Virginia — as a way to “bring attention to the topic of police misconduct.”

“As I stood there, humiliated, with my hands on the police car, my only thought was: ‘There is nothing I can do to right this wrong. I have absolutely no recourse,’” Perkins wrote in a letter to the editor to the student newspaper, the Cavalier Daily. But after an investigation found his claims to be false, he was forced to admit the events he claimed happened “did not occur.”

Last year, Perkins accused those who took issue with his argument for abolishing the police of engaging in “white supremacy.” He also depicted whites as violent, claiming that “white people … murder Black people in droves.”

Perkins also took to castigate NYC Mayor Eric Adams (D) for his “groundbreaking ‘plan’ to curb NYC gun violence- by dumping even more money into his former-colleagues police department.”

He further criticized Adams’ performance, knocking his “promise to keep NYC safe” by adding “1,000 police officers to the subway patrol.” According to Perkins, adding more police to patrol the subways failed to stop the shooting because “stopping violence isn’t their job.”… tweeting out “POLICE DO. NOT. KEEP YOU SAFE.”…

He further capitalized on the Times report, retelling the alleged uniform failure to support his claim that “police DO NOT keep us safe.” This tweet was sent out before the shooter was apprehended…Perkins argued that “[w]hite people, for example, murder Black people in droves and do not suffer from mental illness.”

Perkins continued his argument to accuse disagreement with his assessment as being a product of white supremacy….”Put more bluntly,” he continued, “you are likely treating whiteness as the presumed default in your thought process- that is white supremacy.”

Perkins also … [took] issue with being “tough on crime” and called it “nonsense to an abolitionist.”  According to Perkins, abolitionists do not view crime as “something on which to be tough.” Rather, “crime can be modified only via access to basic resources and social services” because the “[m]majority of even violent crime is due to poverty.”

Perkins was wrong to say that whites are murdering “Black people in droves.” As a black attorney noted in the National Review“blacks aren’t being ‘hunted’ by whites.” Indeed, “‘Between 2012 and 2015, blacks committed 85.5 percent of all black-white interracial violent victimizations.’”
