Document Suggests the FBI Wants to Limit Political Speech

The FBI is broadly defining the term “election fraud” to include “misinformation” and “disinformation,” according to a document a bureau whistleblower provided to Project Veritas.

Project Veritas is a nonprofit conservative news outlet that relies heavily on undercover video and, to a lesser extent, whistleblower testimony and leaked documentation.

The whistleblower leaked an internal check list titled “2022 Midterm Elections Social Media Analysis Cheat Sheet,” which tells agents what to be on the lookout for as we head into the midterms in eight days.

The document lists eight general areas, including campaign finance violations, election interference and voter suppression. Two sections are problematic as being in violation of the First Amendment: disinformation and misinformation.

It defines “disinformation” as “false or inaccurate information intended to mislead others.” It defines “misinformation” as “false or misleading information spread mistakenly or unintentionally.”

The document claims that both are potential election crimes.

The problem is, who determines what the truth is? Who separates fact from fiction? Who distinguishes information from either disinformation or misinformation?

The answer to all those questions is the people, you and I.

The First Amendment to the Constitution provides, in pertinent part, that “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech … .”

In addition, the courts have repeatedly held that political speech, extending even to campaign donations, is especially protected.

The FBI’s National Press Office would neither admit nor deny the document’s existence to The Daily Wire, however, its own website appears to confirm it, warning that, “bad actors use various methods to spread disinformation about voting, such as social media platforms, texting, or peer-to-peer messaging applications on smartphones.”

Lawyer Harmeet Dhillon, founder of the Virginia-based Center for American Liberty tweeted, “BREAKING: From Project Veritas! FBI Whistleblower Leaks Document Showing Agency Targeting ‘Misinformation’ Under ‘Election Crimes’ Ahead of 2022 Midterm Elections!!”

Author and journalist Justin T. Haskins thought it all too Orwellian and asked, “Are we sure this is legit?”

After Dhillon replied “what part of this seems inconsistent with anything you have heard said from the White House press podium, or Merrick Garland’s mouth/his lawsuits?” he admitted, “nothing,” but still found it difficult to believe.

If the FBI is searching for fabrications, embellishments and outright lies, it has only to tune in to any speech by President Biden when he makes outrageous claims like “the border is secure” or “the economy is strong as hell.”

Columnist Joe Concha suggested that he should be awarded “lie of the year” for his claim that the economy had “zero percent inflation” for July when it was actually at 8.5%.

But he always seems to get a pass — until now.

Something out of the norm happened to Biden Friday. He got called out by Twitter — not by a Twitter user, but by the social media platform itself.

Biden’s official presidential @POTUS Twitter account made a rather bold statement Thursday.

“Let me give you the facts,” he began, which should have been a hint that whatever was coming would be complete malarkey.

“In 2020, 55 corporations made $40 billion. And they paid zero in federal taxes.”

He added, “My Inflation Reduction Act puts an end to this.”

Twitter attached this message to his tweet:

“Readers added context they thought people might want to know: The Inflation Reduction Act imposed a minimum tax on corporations with average pre-tax earnings greater than $1 billion.”

It added that “Out of the 55 corporations the tweet references, only 14 had earnings greater than $1 billion and would be eligible under Biden’s tax law,” and asked, “Do you find this helpful?”

Elon Musk had only assumed control of Twitter since Thursday, and already the change reaped positive results.

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Col. was delighted.

“Thought @ElonMusk was going to wait a few days before entirely breaking the libs,” she said. “Guess not. Long live free speech!”

Musk apparently realizes that whosoever controls the information also controls the people. Accordingly, no one should have that power except the people.

During the 2020 election cycle corporate media — including Twitter — controlled what information Americans had access to.

When, in October, the New York Post published a series of articles about Hunter Biden’s “Laptop From Hell,” the stories were dismissed as Russian disinformation, and the Post’s Twitter account was locked down.

The Post’s reports were confirmed as accurate after the election. A poll conducted later found that one out of six Biden voters would have voted differently had they known the truth.

Even if you accept Biden’s 81.2 million votes as accurate, that means 13.5 million who voted for him would not have, leaving 67.7 million — well below Donald Trump’s 74.2 million.

Whosoever controls the information controls the people, and can change the course of history.

That’s why information is so important, and why the Biden administration, working through the Justice Department, wants to keep it from the people. We can’t let them.
