That in a nutshell is what transpired last Friday at a popular New York City restaurant when a party arrived and was asked to show their vaccination IDs in keeping with a new citywide policy. Three women in the group were the first to arrive at the restaurant, Carmine’s, and were seated. But when the three remaining members showed up and two had no proof of vaccination, the scene erupted into violence.
According to New York CBS affiliate WLNY, the 24-year-old hostess was punched and slapped and had a necklace ripped off. The three women, who were the main aggressors, were taken into custody, given a desk appearance ticket, and released. Since they are from Texas, it is highly unlikely that they will ever be prosecuted for their crime. The hostess meantime is recovering from her ordeal at home.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
But the story doesn’t end there. The three women, who are black, are now suddenly claiming for the first time that the hostess dropped a racial slur. None of the customers who tried to pull the assailants off the hostess have verified that account, and many of them are themselves of color. That hasn’t prevented Black Lives Matter from insinuating itself into the fracas. According to Fox News:
Black Lives Matter protesters gathered at Carmine’s in New York City on Monday to accuse the Italian restaurant of racism following a recent altercation between a hostess and three Black female tourists.
Chants of “F— you, Carmine’s,” and “Carmine’s are racist” erupted outside the establishment on the Upper West Side, which made headlines when a hostess was attacked last Thursday.

The demonstrators also rallied against COVID-19 vaccine passports, which they claimed will disproportionately affect Black people.
“This vaccination card mandate to create more Sandra Blands, and more Breonna Taylors, it ends here,” said organizer Kimberly Bernard during a speech. “Consider yourself served. Cancel Carmines’s!”
Maybe the outfit that needs to be “canceled” is BLM.
