Hey, did you hear the latest knee slapper? If you didn’t, it goes like this: A priest, a rabbi, and the Vice President of the United States go into a bar. The veep starts laughing uncontrollably. The end.
It’s not much of a joke, though neither are the majority of topics that Kamala Harris tends to lapse into fits of uncontrollable laughter over.
The latest topic that send Harris into paroxysms of guffaws was — get ready for it — struggling parents unable to send their kids to school. Watch:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
More people are seeing that, yeah, affordable child care is a big deal. More parents are seeing the value of educators [laughter] when they had to [laughter] bring their kids [laughter] — and say we’re not paying them nearly enough [laughter].
As though this reaction wasn’t bizarre enough, a smattering of applause from the audience can be heard, suggesting some of the people present in the room got the “joke.”
What causes these hysterical outbreaks? I hear it as nervous laughter — as a mechanism for getting through a conversation the speaker doesn’t feel comfortable having. I don’t know if I’m right, but I can tell you that she’s doing it more and more frequently.
When you consider that this woman is a heartbeat away from the president, who himself is not exactly the picture of health, you might feel some concern. Just don’t tell Vice President Harris. It will make her laugh.
