Political commentator and activist Candace Owens a racist? Why not? Chance the Rapper, a black entertainer was branded a white supremacist in 2018 after he tweeted his opinion that “black people don’t have to be Democrats.”

The news that Owens is a racist must have come as a rude awakening to Julia Saville, a junior at St Margaret’s High School in Tappahannock, Va. Saville had chosen Owens as the focus of a Black History Month assignment in which students were to write about a black trailblazer.

Meaww reports that Saville awakened to an email from a classmate on the day of the presentation condemning her for her choice of biographee. “I’d like to address some falsified information here,” the email read. Candace Owens is not someone we should be recognizing today especially during Black History Month when she has done absolutely nothing for the black community. … [Owens] was called a racist because she was. … Candace Owens openly tried to degrade the struggles of the black community by telling the general public that America is not a racist country and that everyone who believes that it is is trying to divide America.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The sender also copied other students in the class as well as the staff so they could share in denouncing Saville.

“I know that they have a different perspective on things,” Saville is quoted as having told The Daily Wire. “I just wanted to get their perspective and [understand] their experiences on campus.”

The teen has decided to transfer to another school based on the inhospitable treatment she received in the wake of the email. “[This incident] was the icing on the cake,” she has explained, adding:

I just decided it wasn’t best for me to be there anymore and be surrounded by people like that. I didn’t feel threatened, but it’s definitely uncomfortable when you know that [my peers] all feel a certain way about me and don’t like me simply because of my political views.
