Maybe the ad for a mall Santa that this particular man answered wasn’t explicit enough. Maybe it didn’t specify that “social justice warriors need not apply.” Or maybe the applicant misread the ad and thought Harlem Irving Plaza in Norridge, Ill., was looking to hire a Grinch for the holidays.
Either way the “woke” cretin who was chosen spoiled one little boy’s Christmas or attempted to by denying his gift request. In a video that has gone viral, the store Santa asks the little boy, named Michael, what he wants for Christmas. When the boy responds that he wants a Nerf gun, the Santa replies, “Nope. No guns. Not even a Nerf gun.”
Seeing that the child is downcast, he adds insult to injury by explaining:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
If your dad wants to get it for you that’s fine but I can’t bring it to you, so what else would you like? Lots of other toys, there’s Legos, here’s bicycles, there’s cars and trucks. What do you think?
When the little boy begins to cry, his mother consoles him, assuring him he will get the gun, while Santa Crass adds helpfully, “Don’t cry.”
And why wouldn’t the child cry? In one fell swoop, a self-righteous clown in a red suit has singlehandedly shattered the myth of Santa Claus.
The child’s mother wrote about her own disappointment on Facebook.
My poor baby. This was the first year Michael was excited to go see Santa. It was supposed to be magical but instead I had to watch my sweet little boy fight back tears because Santa told him No because of his own personal beliefs. I had to think fast and explain to him that this Santa was just a helper and not the real guy. I just wanted to console my baby and get him out of there, flipping out on Santa would have only made it worse. His Elfie is going to bring him a Nerf gun directly from the North Pole, from the real Santa, tonight.
In fairness to the mall, it should be noted that they attempted to atone for their sin by arranging for the real Santa to make a special trip to Michael’s home to present him with the gift he had requested.
