Viewers of MSNBC learned two things anchor Stephanie Ruhle’s interview yesterday with Gov. Phil Murphy (D-N.J.). They learned that Ruhle is herself a resident of the Garden State. They also learned that she is apparently as clueless as Murphy is dishonest. In the video, which follows, she begins by noting that the New York chapter of the Young Republicans was unable hold an event in its home state because the rules wouldn’t permit it. So instead they held their “gala” across the river in New Jersey. She concludes by asking Murphy:
[N]ow those people who broke the rules could be spreading this virus and killing people across our state. You are the one who makes the rules. Do you need to put more restrictions in place and actually punish these people?”
The holier-than-thou Murphy replies:
[W]e’ve got the same darned rules that New York has. These jerks came in. It’s under investigation, including the venue, and it’s unfathomable. The pictures, nobody is wearing a mask. They are inside. They’re on top of each other. It’s ridiculous.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Indeed New Jersey does have its own “darned” rules. Which he and his family violated in late November by having dinner sans masks at a local restaurant. A video of the event was captured by hecklers who read the governor the riot act for his double standard.
Furthermore if Murphy is going to rail out at Republican “jerks” for attending an event maskless, shouldn’t he apply the same standard to “jerks” in his own party, who were guilty of the same offense?
