That didn’t take long at all. The word that Donald and Melania Trump had contracted COVID-19 was scarcely in print before Trump haters on the Left — the same people who have been demanding lately that the president renounce hate — were spewing their ill wishes on Twitter. Most of course deleted their tweets soon afterward but not out of fear that they would lose their coveted blue checkmarks. If Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has made anything clear it is that venom spewed at the Right, and especially Donald Trump, is welcome.
One of the most shocking comments of all came from the Washington Post, which invited its loyal readers to engage in the delicious fantasy of imagining what it would be like never having to think about Donald Trump again. Don’t berate yourself if you can’t imagine the Post sharing a sentiment this vile about Joe Biden. They wouldn’t dare.
